Details

GBV was a risk facing women and girls in Ukraine before the escalation of the conflict in 2022; a 2019 study found that 67% of women surveyed reported they have experienced physical, psychological, or sexual violence at the hands of a partner or non-partner since the age of 15. Nearly 30% of women surveyed experienced sexual and/or physical violence from an intimate partner, and a further 24% of women reported experiencing non-partner physical and/or sexual violence. The war has severely affected the protective environment for women and girls in Ukraine, exacerbating existing GBV risks and creating new risks.
