The promise of digital work
Young women face additional barriers in Türkiye, needing to balance work with the domestic responsibilities expected of them from their communities. Technological developments and the shift to virtual work brought about by the pandemic have made it possible to work from anywhere. The virtual nature of digital work means it is promising for refugees who are on the move or face obstacles to finding work in a new country (such as the language barrier or an inability to obtain work permits), and is especially promising for women, as it enables them to work from home and balance domestic commitments.
